presented by Mark Kram, Ph.D.
Hear how Dr. Kram and his team built a solutions-oriented business based on an “Aha!” moment during this online brown bag session.
Originally conceived during preparation of a problem set while teaching a GIS course at University of California, Santa Barbara, Kram patented and, with his colleagues, commercialized an innovative concept to automate and streamline key environmental monitoring and project management components.
Following a successful proof-of-concept, he founded Groundswell Technologies Inc., which has since developed a Web-enabled software platform that collects and archives data from any medium while automatically rendering contour maps, three-dimensional graphics, and monitoring changes over time and space. Higher level features include customized playback loops, mass flux and discharge tracking, model calibration support, basin storage tracking and overdraft protection.
Groundswell has recently integrated their platform with USGS live sensor feeds and commercial databases to facilitate project portfolio management options. Groundswell supports markets that include water resources and groundwater remediation management, vapor intrusion, air quality, sustainability, hydraulic fracturing and other verticals.
