This brown bag Webinar is brought to you by the NGWA Aquifer Protection Interest Group.
Learn how LNAPL (light non-aqueous phase liquid) transmissivity (Tn) is rapidly becoming the preferred metric for LNAPL characterization and remediation over apparent NAPL thickness (ANT) gauged in wells during this half-hour presentation.
Guidance for calculation of Tn is now available for baildown testing, manual skimming testing, recovery data analysis, and tracer testing (ASTM International E2856-11). This guidance will substantially improve standardization and reliability of Tn values.
However, a detailed understanding of the LNAPL conceptual site model (LCSM) is a requirement to correctly calculate Tn values. One critical tool to improve this understanding is the discharge vs. drawdown (DvD) graph. DvD graphs of baildown test data demonstrate diagnostic trends from which filter pack recharge, unconfined LNAPL, or confined or perched LNAPL may be identified. The correct Tn calculation methodology and relevant data set may then be determined on the basis of LNAPL hydrogeologic conditions.
Real-world examples with supporting CPT/LIF data, hydrostratigraphs, and diagnostic gauge plots will be provided.
Intermediate to advanced.
