Learn how to distinguish road salt from other sources of salt along with strategies to remediate salt-contaminated water supply wells during this one-hour Webinar. An overview of salt in human affairs, and highway deicing history and methodologies will precede a discussion of the environmental fate of road salt. The overall impacts of road salt on groundwater will be explored. In addition, previous research combined with empirical knowledge of MaineDOT will be presented to illustrate its experience regarding road salt impacts on surficial and bedrock aquifers.
