Elementary school educators

Nebraska Project Learning Tree (PLT) and Project Water Education for Teachers (WET). These international award-winning environmental education programs use hands-on learning activities that are appropriate for formal and nonformal educators working with children in grades pre-K-12. These activities incorporate important environmental lessons into all desciplines including the sciences, mathematics, fine arts, social studies, language arts, music, and physical education. For more information, visit http://4h.unl.edu/plt-wet.

Denver Earth Science Project. The "Ground Water Studies" module for grades 6-9 teaches students basic Earth science concepts through the exploration of groundwater — the largest accessible and most valuable source of freshwater on earth. The hands-on student activities use real data from industry and government agencies, and follow a problem-solving approach. In addition, the module integrates science, mathematics, geography, and economics, as well as social and environmental issues, into a topic that is rarely addressed in most K-12 curricula. For more information, visit http://desp.mines.edu/desp3a.html.
