NGWA member Michael Kavanaugh,
Ph.D., PE,
will present his Abel Wolman Distinguished Lecture, “
Tradeoffs in Water Quality Management: Risk, Economics, and Equity.”
Kavanaugh is a principal environmental engineer at Geosyntec Consultants in Oakland, California, with more than 35 years of consulting experience in the areas of water quality, water treatment, and groundwater remediation. He has served a highly diverse group of private and public sector clients directly, through industry associations, and through attorneys.
“I plan to draw on my experiences in drinking water, water reuse, groundwater treatment and groundwater remediation to discuss the implications of every decreasing detection limits and ever decreasing public
health goals and some thoughts on the inevitable tradeoffs.”
