(WESTERVILLE, OH — November 9, 2011) The National Ground Water Association will host a free Webinar on November 18 at 11 a.m. ET during which will be presented the results discovered during a scientific investigation into water well construction practices that will help ensure groundwater is safe to drink.
More than 800 hours of videotape documented the progression of the sealing properties of all types of well grouts during a 16-month study in three distinctly different geologic regions of Nebraska. Researchers found that the grouts performed differently than expected and what had been assumed by the groundwater industry for decades. The visual documentation of the grouts provides the industry with a clearer insight of what is needed for adequate groundwater protection.
The Webinar presenter, Tom Christoperhson, is program manager for Nebraska's Water Well Standards and Contractors' Licensing Program for the Department of Health and Human Services, and is also a licensed well drilling and pump installation contractor. In addition, he is also currently serving as the 2011 presenter of the William A. McEllhiney Distinguished Lecture Series in Water Well Technology, a program of the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation.
