(WESTERVILLE, OH — September 29, 2011) William D. Dauksza, owner/operator of Barmore Pump & Electric Co. Inc. in Congers, New York, has received a Life Member Award from the National Ground Water Association for special service in the furtherance of the groundwater industry and NGWA.
His nominators said Dauksza, 75, is characterized by his own adage, “Allow your conscience, not your pocketbook, to guide you.”
“I have had people fight with him to pay their bills because he won’t accept money from someone he thinks can’t afford it. Also, if it is something simple that he thinks the customer can do for themselves, he spends countless hours on the phone explaining procedures so the customer won’t have to pay for a service call,” his nominators wrote.
“He will put everything on hold when a customer has no water, and take care of them first, often to his own financial detriment. With Mr. Dauksza, it is about people and community.”
NGWA President Art Becker, MGWC, CPG, said Dauksza sets a standard for other groundwater professionals to follow.
“Serving the customer well is always the best business practice. In this, Mr. Dauksza goes above and beyond the call of duty. On behalf of the National Ground Water Association, I thank him for his example. We can all learn from it,” Becker said.
The award will be presented December 1 at the 2011 NGWA Ground Water Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
