Groundwater Economics' course to provide cost-benefit analysis for groundwater projects

(WESTERVILLE, OH — April 28, 2011) The National Ground Water Association is offering a course next week in Baltimore on understanding the costs and benefits of groundwater to facilitate economic evaluations of groundwater projects.

The May 5 course will cover:

An overview of groundwater in the economy and around the world
Economic fundamentals
A framework for evaluating benefits and costs of a groundwater project or program
Organizing a cost-benefit analysis for groundwater projects or programs
Economic aspects of sustainable groundwater use and transboundary issues.

The course instructor is Charles Job, chief of the Infrastructure Branch, Drinking Water Protection Division, Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The course is taking place concurrent with the last day of NGWA’s 2011 NGWA Ground Water Summit, also in Baltimore.
