Page Content
(WESTERVILLE, OH — September 29, 2011) Mark Kram, Ph.D., CGWP, and founder and CTO of Groundswell Technologies Inc. of Santa Barbara, California, has received the 2011 Technology Award from the National Ground Water Association.
The award recognizes an individual's major contributions to the groundwater industry in the development of ideas, tools, and/or equipment. It will be presented on November 30 at the 2011 NGWA Ground Water Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
Groundswell Technologies is a GIS software group specializing in automated monitoring and modeling of environmental, water resources, and homeland security sensor networks.
Kram has been instrumental in senor development and implementation, innovative GIS applications, dense non-aqueous phase liquid site characterization, chemical field screening, and monitoring well design. He holds several patents for hydrogeologic and chemical characterization tools and methods.
His innovations enable real-time remote monitoring and on-demand visualization through the Internet. His Web-based software platform Waiora 2.0 allows consensus-based environmental management that facilitates paperless data flow, two-dimensional/three-dimensional visualization, and reporting through the Web.
Specific to groundwater resources, Kram has developed the Groundwater Basin Storage Tracking module — an application-specific software module that automates groundwater basin supply accounting.
