National Ground Water Association

(WESTERVILLE, OH — September 29, 2011) Lee Orton, JD, has received a Life Member Award from the National Ground Water Association for special service in the furtherance of the groundwater industry and NGWA.

Orton has served as executive director of the Nebraska Well Drillers Association since 1983. He also is principle of his law firm, the Orton Law Office, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

His involvement in NGWA includes:

• Chair of the Suppliers Committee on Rural Water Supply
• Member and chair of the Rural Water Subcommittee
• Public Awareness Committee member
• Member and chair of the Affiliate States Committee
• Testifying before Congress on behalf of NGWA.

Beyond his involvement in NGWA, Orton has invested decades of championing to preserve and protect water resources for human and environmental use, including working:

• On legislation to create licensing of the water well contracting professionals in Nebraska
• With the Nebraska Water Well Standards and Contractors Licensing Board
• For The Nebraska Water Conservation Commission (now Natural Resources Commission)
• For the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts.

This award will be presented December 1 at the 2011 NGWA Ground Water Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
