(WESTERVILLE, OH — September 29, 2011) Robert Stone of Indiana-based Franklin Electric has received the 2011 Manufacturers Division Special Recognition Award from the National Ground Water Association.
The award recognizes Stone’s contributions to groundwater industry from the manufacturing sector. It will be presented on December 1 at the 2011 NGWA Ground Water Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
Stone has been working in the groundwater industry for more than 20 years and will celebrate his 20th anniversary with Franklin Electric in 2012. He is the company’s corporate senior vice president and president of Franklin’s Americas Water Systems group business, which comprises several business units and numerous product lines and brands throughout the Americas.
Stone has been a member of NGWA since 1992, recently chairing the Lead-Free Drinking Water Task Force, and currently serving as a member of NGWA’s Government Affairs Committee. He also is the current president of the Water Systems Council.
He is an advocate of greater public awareness regarding groundwater, water resources management, and water well systems.
“Public policies that do not properly consider the true environmental and economic impact of various water systems solutions (centralized versus decentralized, for example) have been shown to inefficiently use water resources and hurt the water well contracting industry,” he said.
