Site characterization in fractured rock subject of NGWA short course

(WESTERVILLE, OH — August 19, 2011) A short course offered by the National Ground Water Association October 17-18 in Denver, Colorado, will teach how to develop tools to characterize fractured rock sites and understand the usefulness of the conceptual hydrogeological model.

The course, “Site Characterization in Support of Fractured Rock Remediation Projects,” covers:

Hydrogeology and fractured systems
Geophysics and remote sensing
Drilling and well sampling
Fracture sampling and characterization
Well and formation testing
The conceptual model
Selecting drilling sites from geophysical selection
Specify and design suite of logs
Fracture interpretation from logs
Flowmeter test analysis (model application)
Aquifer test analysis
Multiwell aquifer test.

The intermediate-level course is suited to regulators, engineers, geologists, hydrologists, project managers, and environmental professionals.
