NGWA offers two certification programs — one for
contractors
, one for
scientists and engineers
— and a professional recognition program for
manufacturers and suppliers
.
Contractors
The
NGWA Well Construction and Pump Installation Certification Program
, which started in 1970, is the only national certification program for contractors and pump installers in the groundwater industry. Through this program, you may earn the
Certified Well Driller (CWD)
and/or the
Certified Pump Installer (CPI)
designation. Other designations may be established.
Governed by groundwater contractors who understand the daily activities in the field, the program is designed to demonstrate pride in the job and to promote professionalism in the groundwater industry. It is recognized as the leading program in the industry by numerous state agencies, which have adopted the tests for their own programs.
The NGWA program also features a designation of
Master Ground Water Contractor (MGWC)
. It is for those who have proven to have exceptional knowledge and dedication in water well construction and pump installation.
Scientists and engineers
The
Certified Ground Water Professional (CGWP)
designation, offered since 1986, is governed by its peers and represents those individuals who are at the top of their fields and strive to uphold the dignity of their profession.
Manufacturers and suppliers
The
Certified Sales Professional (CSP)
designation allows manufacturers and suppliers to demonstrate their knowledge in key troubleshooting areas and skills related to drilling operations and water systems, as well as their commitment to enhancing groundwater industry professionalism and providing good customer service.
