The Certified Groundwater Professional (CGWP) designation was started in 1986 for scientists and engineers. It was designed to represent those individuals who are at the top of their fields and strive for the highest level of professionalism.
This program was suspended for new applicants on December 31, 2008.
NGWA plans to introduce the redesigned CGWP program in mid to late 2013. The revamped CGWP program will broaden the pool of eligible groundwater industry professionals. The application process is being redesigned to better assess overall experience, qualifications, and contributions to the industry. Continuing education activities will remain as a renewal requirement.
Please note that current CGWPs in good standing — those who have completed renewals when due — will retain their status.
