Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The primary mission of FMCSA, housed in the U.S. Department of Transportation, is to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.

 

Mine Safety and Health Administration. The mission of MSHA, a part of the U.S. Department of Labor, is to administer the provisions of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Mine Act) as amended by the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response Act of 2006 (MINER Act), and to enforce compliance with mandatory safety and health standards as a means to eliminate fatal accidents, reduce the frequency and severity of nonfatal accidents, minimize health hazards, and promote improved safety and health conditions in the nation's mines.

 

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 created both NIOSH and OSHA. NIOSH, housed in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was established to help assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by providing research, information, education, and training in the field of occupational safety and health.

Occupational Safety & Health Administration. The role of OSHA, housed in the U.S. Department of Labor, is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual process improvement in workplace safety and health.

 

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction. CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard, or that can injure children.

 

U.S. EPA. The mission of the U.S. EPA is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, it has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people.
