Apply for certification

The AGWSE Board of Directors has established a three-person Application Review Panel to decide for and against applicants for certification. The panel meets every December to review completed applications assembled and prescreened for completeness by NGWA staff personnel.

The CGWP application components must be received at the NGWA office 30 days in advance of the review in order to be considered. Please contact the certification manager for review dates.

A majority decision of the CGWP Application Review Panel will be required to certify or not certify an individual.

The three members of the panel are members of the CGWP Committee, or members of the AGWSE board.

No individual will be certified without submitting to the full application and review process. Individuals denied certification may petition for a personal hearing before the review committee that denied their original application.

The application fee is $150. A three-year renewal fee of $150 will be charged at the time of approval of professional development credits.

Individuals granted certification are asked to abide by seven cannons of professional practice for the ground water professional. They shall:

  • Perform services only in the areas of their competence.
  • Use their knowledge and skill for the enhancement of human welfare.
  • Serve the public, their employers, and their clients honestly, objectively, and impartially.
  • Avoid conflict of interest.
  • Act as faithful agents or trustees in professional matters for each employer or client.
  • Strive to uphold and enhance the honor, integrity, dignity, competence, and prestige of the ground water profession.
  • Maintain their competence current through continuing professional development.
