Date: February 24-25, 2020
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

Providing adequate food and drinking-water supplies depends on increasingly stressed groundwater resources. This fourth biennial NGWA event on Southwest U.S. water issues is intended to provide a broad forum to bring together water professionals from the private and public sectors to share experiences and lessons learned in protecting and managing groundwater and its connection to surface water. The conference is being designed to integrate platform presentations with discussion sessions for maximum attendee interaction and benefit.

Keynote speaker

Laura CondonLaura Condon, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Arizona, will present the keynote address.

Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Arizona, Condon was an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Syracuse University. In addition to her academic experience, she has worked as an engineering consultant and a hydrologist for the Bureau of Reclamation working on water resources management issues in Colorado and across the Western United States.

Interested in large-scale water sustainability and the dynamic behavior of managed hydrologic systems in the context of past development and future climate change, her work combines physically based numerical modeling with observations and statistical techniques to evaluate large systems using rigorous quantitative methods.

Condon received a B.S. in environmental engineering from Columbia University, and obtained her M.S. and Ph.D. in hydrologic science and engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
