NGWA Foundation for Groundwater Awards $14,000 to Seven Students

Len Assante Scholarship Fund Has Provided More than $170,000 to 115 Students Since its Inception

(WESTERVILLE, Ohio — May 15, 2018) — The NGWA Foundation today announced it recently awarded $14,000 to seven students through the Len Assante Scholarship fund.

Len Assante Scholarships are awarded to full-time students enrolled in a post-secondary program in groundwater-related fields. An independent panel of between 3-5 people chooses both the number of winners and the dollar amount for each student from a pool of scholarship applicants. Examples of institutions that provide post-secondary education are vocational schools, community colleges, independent college, and universities. 

The 2018 Len Assante Scholarship award winners are:

  • Rachel Kaiser, Past President’s Award, Western Kentucky University – $5000
  • Ilinca Popescu, Ora Lyons Award, College TBD – $3000
  • Alan Becker, Richard Haderer Award, Cal State, Fresno – $2000
  • Tyler Kleinsasser, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology – $1000
  • Caleb Russell, to attend Gardner Webb University – $1000
  • Alexia Hernandez, to attend Texas A&M University – $1000
  • Rachel Eising, to attend California Baptist University – $1000
