Industry’s largest event features education, exhibits, and networking with attendees from around the world
Motivational Speaker and retired U.S. Army Soldier J.R. Martinez to deliver keynote presentation
(WESTERVILLE, OH – Nov. 21, 2018) – The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) will once again descend on Las Vegas, Nevada, to host the industry’s premier event, Groundwater Week, December 3-6, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Designed to provide both educational and networking experiences to groundwater professionals, the exhibit hall will feature the latest technologies, educational opportunities, interactive activity areas, and numerous panels and sessions from industry thought leaders.
Held in conjunction with NGWA’s Groundwater Summit—the Association’s preeminent technical conference for groundwater consultants, scientists, engineers, and academics—Groundwater Week is expected to draw 5000 attendees.
Groundwater Week will feature every opportunity to maximize the foundations of groundwater science with water supply, resource protection, and remediation. During the event, attendees will:
- Explore products, technologies, and services from hundreds of exhibitors.
- Learn about industry advances by attending any number of informational/educational sessions.
- Choose from more than 50 hours of educational offerings designed to increase job performance.
- Gain valuable insight regarding future industry trends and offerings.

Actor, author, motivational speaker, and retired U.S. Army soldier J.R. Martinez will deliver the 2018 Keynote Presentation during the Opening Ceremony and Awards Presentation at Groundwater Week. In March of 2003, Martinez was deployed to Iraq where he sustained severe burns to more than one-third of his body when his Humvee hit a roadside bomb. Since his recovery, he has traveled around the country speaking about his experiences to corporations, veteran’s groups, schools, and other organizations, making him a highly sought-after motivational speaker. Martinez has also appeared on numerous television shows, including All My Children and Dancing With the Stars, and is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Full of Heart: My Story of Survival, Strength, and Spirit.
Those attending the Groundwater Summit will hear Dr. Alan Kolok deliver the opening session and H2O presentation titled “Crowdsourcing and Wicked Water Quality Problems: The Use of Citizens in Groundwater Quality Assessment.” Dr. Kolok is the director of the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute at the University of Idaho and a prolific author of more than 80 papers and two books, and is the editor of the journal Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
Groundwater Summit attendees can also attend featured presentations from NGWA’s 2018 Darcy Lecturer, Dr. Masaki Hayashi, and the Association’s 2018 McEllhiney Lecturer, Dr. Todd Halihan.
