Take in today’s timely Groundwater Week 2020 Keynote Presentation

mcginnis-kevinKevin McGinnis, president of Cotey Chemical Corp., pictured at right, will deliver the Groundwater Week 2020 Keynote Presentation at 10:45 a.m. EST today.

McGinnis’ presentation has a title timely in the year that has unfolded for all of us, “Establishing Social Distancing Between Contamination and Drinking Water Systems.”

McGinnis has worked in the water well remediation industry for 27 years and has presented workshops in the United States for state and national organizations. Additionally, he has worked on water well rehabilitation projects in Central America, the Far East, and several states of the Middle East.

Five awards will be given in the Wednesday Welcome as well.

NGWA Awards of Excellence —

  • Long-time NGWA member John Pitz, NGWAF, is the recipient of NGWA’s most prestigious award, the Ross L. Oliver Award for outstanding contributions to the groundwater industry. Pitz is president of N.L. Pitz Inc. in Batavia, Illinois.
  • David Henrich, CWD/PI, CVCLD, president, Bergerson-Caswell Inc., Maple Plain, Minnesota — Robert Storm Intersectional Cooperation Award and Standard Bearer Award
  • Mike Barcelona, Ph.D., emeritus professor, Western Michigan University — Life Member Award

Outstanding Groundwater Project Award

  • Geosyntec Consultants — Launch Ready! High-Resolution Site Characterization and the Expedited Remediation of a Multi-Acre Chlorinated Volatile Organic Compound Plume at NASA’s Launch Complex 39B — Remediation Award

McGinnis is also The Groundwater Foundation’s 2021 McEllhiney Lecturer. He will deliver the kickoff presentation of that lecture at 3:30 p.m. EST on Thursday. The talk is titled “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Innovative Treatment Options for Established and Emerging Water Quality Challenges.”
