NGWA announced that groundwater professionals recently successfully completed NGWA’s certification examination and met other requirements.
Shane Salta, MGWC, CVCLD, of Davidsonville, Maryland, has been certified as a Master Groundwater Contractor (MGWC). He joins the ranks of the slightly more than 50 who hold the MGWC designation in the industry. (He was already a Certified Vertical Closed
Loop Driller [CVCLD] prior to earning the MGWC designation.)
Salta, who is a contractor with 2S Well Drilling LLC and has been a long-time leader and volunteer within the groundwater industry, took his MGWC exam during Groundwater Week 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The designation of MGWC recognizes those who have proven exceptional knowledge and dedication in water well construction and pump installation. To receive the designation of MGWC, candidates must have five years of active experience in the water well
construction industry, possess all existing NGWA certifications, and pass a rigorous four-hour exam displaying their competency on a wide range of skills.
Kevin Uffmann of Holbrook, New York, and Mike Pedersen of Riverton, Wyoming, are the latest to have successfully completed NGWA’s certification examination and met the other requirements leading to the status of Certified Well Driller (CWD).
Since February 1988, Uffmann has been a field supervisor for Layne Christensen, a Granite Company. Pedersen is senior driller for Inberg-Miller Engineers.
James Donovan of Frost Well Drilling Inc. in East Dorset, Vermont, is the latest to have successfully completed NGWA’s certification examination and met the other requirements leading to the status of Certified Pump Installer (CPI).
The NGWA Voluntary Certification Program establishes standards of technical competency within the groundwater contracting professions and
demonstrates the certified contractor has voluntarily met these standards. By passing NGWA’s certification exams, contractors prove their knowledge, training, and experience which enable them to perform their job in a competent and professional
manner. Prior to taking a series of examinations in specialized subjects, candidates must provide NGWA with proof of two years full-time groundwater contracting experience. Click here to learn more.
