NGWA past president passes away

NGWA Past President Tommy Bussell of Tomball, Texas, passed away on April 2. He was 86.

Bussell served as NGWA president in 1977 (then the National Water Well Association). In 1987, he gave the keynote address at the annual convention where he stressed dedication and commitment. It was the first time a member of the organization had presented the keynote address.

Bussell, who was awarded the NGWA Life Member Award in 2007, was also instrumental in forming an NWWA scholarship fund.

His involvement at the board level included Texas where he served on the board of directors for the Lone Star Water Well Association (now the Texas Ground Water Association) as well as on the Water Well Drillers Board for 12 years. He was named driller of the year in 1978 and 1984 by the Texas Ground Water Association, its highest honor given. Bussell was the first president of the American Ground Water International Trust.
