After President Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on January 20, action was taken during the week on committees of interest to the groundwater industry.
The Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment will be led by U.S. House of Representatives member Frederica Wilson (D-Florida) as a ranking member. The chair of the committee was previously announced that Representative Mike Collins (R-Georgia) will serve as chair of the Water Resources and the Environment Subcommittee.
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted to advance the nomination of Lee Zeldin to be the next administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Zeldin’s nomination was favorably reported by the Committee in a bipartisan vote of 11-8 and will now head to the Senate floor for full consideration.
