EPA provides WIFIA financing for managed aquifer recharge and water supply alternative projects

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that $5 billion will be available in fiscal year 2020 round of the WIFIA program, which includes managed aquifer recharge (MAR) projects and water supply alternatives for reduction of aquifer depletion.

WIFIA also finances water and wastewater infrastructure improvements, such as enhancing capacity at wastewater treatment plants, water recycling projects, and drinking water distribution enhancements.

MAR is one of four priority issues NGWA is focused on for the foreseeable future.
