SIMCO Drilling Equipment Inc. in Osceola, Iowa, announced that Richard Clarke, director of sales and marketing, will be retiring at the end of May after 35 years with the company. Clarke became the face of SIMCO over the past 35 years at hundreds of trade shows and conferences representing its line of hydraulic drill rigs.
Along with ongoing rig sales and promotion efforts, Clarke had direct involvement in the design and development of the product line. Clarke spent 11-plus years serving on various committees and boards of NGWA, culminating in being elected to serve as chair of the manufacturer’s section and vice president of the NGWA Board of Directors in 2006.
A highlight was being part of the Iowa delegation to an NGWA Groundwater Fly-In that was instrumental in the final push to obtain the first federal tax credit for geothermal heat pump systems. Another highlight was getting to know and work alongside other dedicated NGWA volunteers from the ranks of contractors, scientists, engineers, suppliers, and other manufacturers. It’s the people of the groundwater industry that Clarke says he will miss the most.
