NGWA mourns loss of past president Bob Reichart

Robert “Bob” Reichart, a former president of NGWA, passed away on September 15. He was 83.

Reichart became a partner with his father in 1976 at William M. Reichart Inc. in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The company has been family-owned and operated since 1890. Reichart was its president when he retired in 2008.

A colorful figure known by many in the groundwater industry, Reichart was the NGWA president in 2000. He also served as president of the Pennsylvania Ground Water Association from 1994-1996 and as its executive director from 2010-2019.

Reichart was extremely active with NGWA. He earned the Association’s Certified Well Driller/Pump Installer designation (CWD/PI), served on several committees, and was an active participant in the Association’s legislative efforts, attending many NGWA Fly-Ins in Washington, D.C.

He was recognized with NGWA’s Ross L. Oliver Award in 2000, the Association’s most prestigious award. It is presented to a member who has made outstanding contributions to the groundwater industry.

Reichart was also honored with the NGWA Standard Bearer Award in 2007, which is presented to a person deemed an outstanding volunteer involved in the legislative process on behalf of NGWA and its initiatives.
