NGWA kicks off National Groundwater Awareness Week early

March 9, 2026

NGWA kicked off National Groundwater Awareness Week early by presenting a webinar focused on wellhead protection to the Source Water Collaborative.

The Source Water Collaborative is a group of 31 water organizations including NGWA. The webinar, titled “Wellhead Protection: A First Line of Defense — Why It Still Matters in 2026,” was presented on March 5 by NGWA Regulatory Affairs Manager Chuck Job.

The webinar focused on promoting source water protection for water supply. More than 50 people from across the country attended the session.

The presentation is available here to review or even use during their own National Groundwater Awareness Week activities this week.

A companion article titled “Wellhead and Source Water Protection — Review of A First Line of Defense” appeared in NGWA’s technical journal, Groundwater Monitoring & Remediation Summer 2025 issue.

National Groundwater Awareness Week is taking place March 8-14. It is an annual observance established highlighting the responsible development, management, and use of groundwater. Click here to see things you can do in your community this week.
