Oak Ridge National Laboratory is conducting a survey as part of a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Geothermal project to analyze how mass deployment of geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems could help the grid meet rising demand and while lowering energy bills for ratepayers.
Building on a 2023 DOE-funded study on the impacts of mass GHP deployment, this project expands the national cost-accounting framework to evaluate both upfront technology costs and long-term grid and ratepayer benefits.
