Overview:
Microplastics in the environment have drawn increasing attention over the past two decades by researchers and the public. Initial concerns focused on the surface environment but microplastics have increasingly been detected in groundwater worldwide. This webinar provides an overview of current knowledge about the occurrence, fate, and transport of microplastics in groundwater and approaches to their study, including sampling methodologies. The cotransport behaviors of microplastics and other contaminants are also discussed along with current knowledge gaps.
