David Barnes, PhD, PE

Dr. David L. Barnes is a semi-retired professor of civil engineering with nearly 40 years of experience in groundwater engineering. For the past 27 years, his work has focused on groundwater projects within the continuous and discontinuous permafrost regions of Alaska. Previously, he served as the Director of the Institute of Northern Engineering at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and as the Associate Dean for Research. Dr. Barnes now resides in Bozeman, Montana, where he teaches engineering classes at Montana State University and operates his own groundwater engineering consulting firm. He is a registered Professional Engineer.
