NGWA’s two-day, sold-out workshop on PFAS being held in St. Paul, Minnesota, concludes today by looking at remediation of this emerging class of groundwater contaminants.
Nearly 100 attendees will listen to listen to presentations by:
- Steven Woodward, Ph.D., PE, who will present “Accelerated Deployment and Startup of Ion Exchange Groundwater Treatment System Addresses PFAS Contamination at Australian Air Base” and “Rapid Deployment of PFAS Removal System for Town Water Supply”
- Dirk Pohlmann, PE, who will present “Lessons Learned from Three Years of Full-Scale PFAS Plume Management and Liquid GAC Groundwater Treatment”
- Scott Wilson who will present “Eliminating Risk of PFAS Contamination: Low Cost In Situ Remediation with Colloidal Activated Carbon.”
Today’s workshop exercise focuses on “Response Actions Addressing the Problem,” with workgroups sharing their findings before the event concludes.
A panel began today’s workshop discussing how states/governments are addressing PFAS. The panel consisted of William Alley, Ph.D., Virginia Yingling, Stephen Ales, PG, Shalene Thomas, and Steve Sliver.
The event began yesterday with a keynote address by Yingling, a hydrogeologist at the Minnesota Department of Health. Attendees also heard five speakers and participated in two workgroup exercises.
