NGWA Government Affairs Committee comments on four proposed rules

Under the leadership of NGWA Government Affairs Chair Brian Snelten, PG, the Association commented on four proposed rules in January. Click the rule titles below to read the complete comments from NGWA.

• NGWA commented on which per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) should be evaluated for listing and reporting thresholds in the Environmental Protection Agency Proposed Rule: Addition of Certain Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances; Community Right-to-Know Toxic Chemical Release Reporting.
• NGWA commented on clay liner survivability; groundwater monitoring, reporting, and corrective action; risk assessment plans; and a workplan for showing alternative capacity infeasibility in the Environmental Protection Agency Proposed Rule: Hazardous and Solid Waste Management System: Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals From Electric Utilities; A Holistic Approach to Closure Part A: Deadline To Initiate Closure.
• NGWA commented that the Department of Agriculture should continue to implement the Conservation Reserve Program to protect groundwater, wetlands, and wellhead protection areas in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Commodity Credit Corporation and Farm Service Agency Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Interim Rule.
• NGWA commented on reporting and technical capability of small water systems as well as a host of requirements in the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations: Proposed Lead and Copper Rule Revisions.
