WWJ was recognized for articles authored by Editor Thad Plumley and Senior Editor Mike Price. Plumley’s award came for his May 2020 feature article “COVID-19 and Groundwater,” which was honored in the first COVID-19 Newspaper/Magazine Articles category. Price was honored in the Writing Series category for the three-part feature article series, “Workforce Development in the Water Well Industry,” which ran in the December 2020-February 2021 issues.

This marks the 19th consecutive year WWJ has earned an award from Communications Concepts, a group that provides educational information for publishing and marketing professionals.

All told, the competition had nearly 1200 submissions in 100 categories.

WWJ has won 34 APEX Awards in its history, most in the groundwater industry.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that WWJ was recognized once again by Communications Concepts,” Plumley said. “The two articles are among the most important that we’ve published in the last year. COVID-19 has affected us all and workforce development remains an issue critical to the groundwater industry. To see our work on these articles recognized is humbling.”
