Long-time NGWA member Lawrence “Larry” Henry LaChance, MGWC, CPG, of Ballston Lake, New York, passed away on September 5. He was 75.
LaChance earned a degree in geology and an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division and 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment from 1969-1970. He later joined and retired from the Army National Guard, serving most of his time as a tank sergeant.
A Master Groundwater Contractor (MGWC) with NGWA who served on various committees, LaChance was retired as general manager of Adirondack Pump & Well Service LLC in Ballston Lake. He was a member of the American Institute of Professional Geologists and New England Water Well Association. He also donated his time to the Civil Air Patrol, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Mohawk Hudson Sail and Power Squadron, and helped to restore the U.S.S. Slater located at the Port of Albany, New York.
Family and friends are invited to attend his burial service at the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on October 12. Memorial donations can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
