New requirements for a commercial driver’s license will go into effect on February 7, 2022. At this time, all new drivers looking to obtain a CDL must complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) as well as behind-the-wheel training.
Click here for more information on the new ELDT requirements.
The new requirements have long been under consideration and there is expectation that they will not be challenged, changed, or rescinded.
These new requirements will involve more time and training for yourself or your employees to receive the CDL. If you are currently pursuing a CDL, you can complete the requirements under current guidelines until February 7, 2022. NGWA encourages all its members to start considering their future transportation needs and understand how these new guidelines may impact their business and labor force.
