NGWA director of science and technology gives overview of MAR at National Academies session

The National Academies is hosting a two-day online session on the Future of Managed Aquifer Recharge in the U.S. today and Wednesday.

NGWA Director Science and Technology Bill Alley, Ph.D., will give an overview on managed aquifer recharge (MAR) today. Three members of NGWA’s MAR Work Group, June Mirecki, Ph.D., PG, Andrew O’Reilly, Ph.D., and David Pyne, PE, will also present during the meeting.

Mirecki, who is with Mirecki Geosciences LLC, will detail a MAR case study in the Everglades and Picayune Strand, Florida, while O’Reilly, who is with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service, will provide a case study about MAR work involving the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi in the same session today.

Pyne of ASR Systems LLC is a part of a panel discussion on Wednesday titled “Technical Considerations for Managed Aquifer Recharge.”

NGWA’s technical journal, Groundwater®, will devote a special issue to MAR in 2022.
