EPA announces 2022 Superfund grant funding guidance for states and tribes

May 27, 2022

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced on May 24 its 2022 grant funding guidance for state and tribal Superfund programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) authorizes a noncompetitive grant program to support state and tribal programs for hazardous waste site response. Generally, these response programs address the assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment of brownfields and other sites with actual or perceived contamination.

The EPA anticipates that it may allocate approximately $57.9 million in FY 2022 Section 128(a) Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funds.

Requests for FY 2022 Section 128(a) Infrastructure Law funding will be accepted through June 3, 2022 and should be sent to the EPA Regional Office.
