Education and exhibits were the order once again as groundwater professionals took in South Atlantic Jubilee 2022 on July 30-August 1 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Workshop sessions covered air drilling, well rehabilitation, variable frequency drives, business-related topics, and more. Kevin McGillicuddy, PG, The Groundwater Foundation’s 2022 McEllhiney Lecture, tied in local samples in his session titled “Surface Water and Groundwater Interaction — An Examination of the Natural and Man-Made Ties that Bind Them.”
Kevin McGinnis, the 2021 McEllhiney Lecturer, also led a learning session titled “Intro to Well Rehabilitation and Maintenance.”
Nearly 100 exhibitors were in attendance as well and attendees had nearly nine hours to see up close the latest advancements in groundwater products and technology.
NGWA and Water Well Journal® shared a booth as NGWA Director of Publications and WWJ Editor Thad Plumley was in attendance. He promoted NGWA contractor membership, the NGWA Learning Center, and the new Drilling Basics Online, a series of groundwater training courses for entry-level and young workers.
As always, the event was designed with families in mind. A Kids Zone had a petting zoo and an area where balloon animals were made for children and the annual Worth Pickard Family Picnic had a fun, festive atmosphere. Pickard was a founding member of the South Atlantic Jubilee as well as the NGWA president in 1990 and the NGWA Ross L. Oliver Award winner in 2004.
The event featured 18 industry sponsors including NGWA.
