Staff from NGWA joined more than 700 water professionals from around the country at the 13th National Monitoring Conference, April 24-28 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The conference, which is organized by the National Water Monitoring Council, is a gathering of water professionals who focus on monitoring and research in all water resources.
As part of the four-day conference, staff from NGWA participated in a series of discussions on the role of the National Ground-Water Monitoring Network in monitoring and researching groundwater nationwide.
NGWA Public Relations and Government Affairs Manager Ben Frech presented “Prospects and Predictions for Continued Federal Support for the National Ground-Water Monitoring Network (NGWMN) ,” in which he discussed the legislative and funding history of the NGWMN and strategies to advance the program in the future.
The presentation was coauthored by Robert Schreiber, PE, BCEE, D.WRE, senior water resource manager at CD Smith, and Dan Yates, executive director of the Groundwater Protection Council.

NGWA was a leading advocate for the creation of the National Ground-Water Monitoring Network in 2009 and continues to lobby for additional support of the program.
