NGWA mourns the loss of member Thomas “Tom” Zimmie, Ph.D., who passed away on May 3. He was 84.
Zimmie was a professor of civil engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He was there from the fall of 1973 until his retirement in 2021.
He was known for his work in soil mechanics and received the William H. Wisely American Civil Engineer Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2021.
