NGWA announces 2023 industry award winners

NGWA congratulates the recipients of its 2023 Awards of Excellence, Outstanding Groundwater Project Awards, and Sectional Awards, which will be presented this December during Groundwater Week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Long-time NGWA member Marvin F. Glotfelty, RG, is the recipient of NGWA’s most prestigious award, the Ross L. Oliver Award for outstanding contributions to the groundwater industry. Glotfelty is a principal hydrogeologist and cofounder of Clear Creek Associates, a Geo-Logic Company in Phoenix, Arizona.

  • Dr. Jiu Jimmy Jiao of the University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, China — M. King Hubbert Award
  • Robert Schreiber, PE, BCEE, D.WRE, of CDM Smith in Boston, Massachusetts — Robert Storm Intersectional Cooperation Award
  • Lawrence J. Sima, CWD/PI, of Sima Drilling Company Inc. in Cheshire, Connecticut — Life Member Award
  • Kathryn J. Butcher, retired from NGWA in Westerville, Ohio — Honorary Member Award
  • Ben Cardin, U.S Senator, Maryland — Groundwater Protector Award
  • Richard Thron, MGWC, NGWAF, of Mantyla Well Drilling Inc. in Lakeland, Minnesota — Standard Bearer Award

Outstanding Groundwater Project Awards

  • Orange County Water District — Increasing Local Water Supplies Through Recharge and Reuse: The Groundwater Replenishment System Final Expansion — Groundwater Supply Project Award
  • Geosyntec Consultants Inc. — Gravity-Powered PFAS Remediation — Groundwater Remediation Project Award
