Deadline nears for CDL drivers being registered through FMCSA’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse

October 28, 2024

Don’t forget about the upcoming November 18 deadline for commercial driver’s license (CDL) drivers being registered by FMCSA’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

The Clearinghouse is a database that contains information on violations of the DOT's drug and alcohol testing program. Employers must check the Clearinghouse for current and prospective employees before allowing them to drive commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) on public roads. Employers must also check the Clearinghouse annually for each driver they employ. States may begin downgrading licenses before this date.

Employers who don't comply with the Clearinghouse requirements may face civil fines or criminal penalties.
