EPA adds three sites to the National Priorities List of Hazardous Waste Sties

July 9, 2025

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on July 3 added three sites to the National Priorities List (NPL) of hazardous waste site under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980.

The NPL is intended primarily to guide the EPA in determining which sites warrant further investigation. These investigations will allow the EPA to assess the nature and extent of public health and environmental risks associated with the site and to determine what CERCLA-financed remedial actions may be appropriate.

The three sites are:

  • Historic Potteries in Trenton, New Jersey: Lead in soil
  • Carlisle Village Cleaners in Albuquerque, New Mexico: Perchloroethylene (PCE) soil gas infiltrating buildings.
  • J.H. Baxter in Eugene, Oregon: Creosote and pentachlorophenol (PCP) contamination of soil and groundwater.
