Michigan Ground Water Association Past President and NGWA member Doyle Berg of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on June 30. He was 83.
Berg was born into a family of water well drillers and spent his life providing fresh water to a five-county region in northern Michigan. He owned and operated six businesses in his lifetime, but he was the proudest of his sixth-generation company, Berg Well Drilling.
He held a bachelor’s degree from Western College in Michigan and also attended LeTourneau and Kilgore Colleges in Texas. The last portion of his life was shaped by a trip to Haiti that fueled a water well drilling operation, an orphanage, and churches that have now impacted thousands. Most importantly, this journey led to the adoption of his daughter.
